GACKT Channel Issue 37 (Preview)

I'm here.

Continuing on from last week.
I came to the city of Joetsu in Niigata
for the Kenshin Festival that would be held the day after.

If I start from the results
250,000 people attended this year.
I'm happy that there are so many people
who want to see Uesugi Kenshin, who I play.

Because I hope it can contribute even a little
to revitalising Joetsu.

Evening, August 24th.

The sky is still bright,
and it gives you the feeling
that tomorrow's weather should be good.

For a few days, it had been threatening to rain in Joetsu
and it made me worried about the festival itself.

"If it's like this,
then the weather is sure to be good tomorrow!"
There was no choice but to believe it at that point...

We drove to check the course I would ride my horse on the next day.

I want you to remember this photo.
It's usually a vast expressway like this
but it would be terribly crowded the next day.

Because it would be overflowing with 250,000 people.
image

It's really a huge road...

What I was scared of was rain.

If it rained, the horse's hooves aren't built for that.

Well,
galloping on wet asphalt is just suicide.

I'm double-checking the course for the next day
while a city official explains it to me like every year.

I wonder how many times I've already ridden it?

It's strange, but I've never walked it before
image

This is where I turn back.
In terms of distance galloped, it's 1,000m

And,
my retainers run after my horse.
For 1,000m.

Most people would cringe at that,
but in the Sengoku era,
it wasn't unusual at all.

People in the olden days really were that strong.

We arrived to a place with Kenshin Festival flags and posters.
By the next day, the entire city would be full of the Kenshin Festival.

As I looked at the scenery out of the corner of my eye,
I noticed the color of the sky was gradually changing.

This place is really beautiful.

Thank you so much for the translation, Amaia!
Galloping on wet asphalt is very dangerous, that`s right. Since some weeks I spend my riding hours without a saddle to train my
balance. It`s fun but dangerous too and my back hurts. lol
