Organizing Memories….Part 2

ALL OF MY DEARS

Today again,
I'm going to try to organize the scattered photos from the past a little.

We might find something interesting…

I mean, there's heaps…. Ahahahaha.
It's totally like a toy box…

Do you know what we were shooting when this was taken?

[Photo: Actually this was right before the shoot…]

Actually, this is right after we parked at Ebisu Station
for "Doyagao Summit".

"So this is what Ebisu Station is like…"

As I was lost in my own thoughts,
the staff took this photo.

Since I came to Tokyo, I can count on one hand
the number of times I've ridden trains other than the Shinkansen.
I dread trains.
But maybe I like stations.

The area around a train station is really something… it always interests me.
I like to have a wander around,
but my staff always get mad at me.

"You draw attention and cause bother so please stop!!!"

What do you mean, 'cause bother'?
By existing? Or is it my death glare?

Well, no matter what I say they drag me back to the car…
It's too sad…

Well, well, is there anything else?
Yes, yes.

In April this year I wore a queue for the filming of Tempest.
So I cut my hair short for that myself.
But when I took a photo in a pose I personally liked,
no matter how I look at it, I just look like a hooligan.

I really took a lot of photos from around this time,
but I can't deny I just look like a naughty, evil brat in all of them.

This is a pretty rare photo.
This is from when we did YOU's birthday party.
When was this…?
He's a good man and this pisses me off,
but since he's my old friend, I'll forgive him.

I've found an interesting one here.
Ahahahaha.

It was during the RR2 Okinawa concerts on a day off.

Before I went to clean my ancestor's huge tomb,
while I was wandering in an alley off Kokusai-dori,
I encountered two of my dancers.
I casually went to a parlor with TAC-chan and MADOKA

"There probably aren't any parlors left these days…"

As I said that, I walked past one on the street.
"Whoa~~~!!!!" I said as I entered it happily.

I automatically ordered shaved ice.

[Photo: At least we took a commemorative photo, aha.]

Even as I was thinking we didn't really have to eat there,
somehow it felt like it was delicious.

Even as I looked around the store restlessly,
the parts that were done enthusiastically and the parts that weren't,
were the good thing about Okinawa,
they don't get greedy about it at all.
The only extra included was the "mother's" [=woman working in the store] smile.
I'm more comfortable with this.

[Photo: The two stupid dancers. These guys have a good aura]

Somehow, these two were completely satisfied with Okinawa.
How nice~~.

Well, I was happy that they liked my hometown.
It not like it really has anything special in it.
That's why it's good.

[Photo: I just can't hate this smile]

Why is he smiling so much?

Well, that smile always calms me down.
Man or woman, the person with a wonderful smile always wins.
No matter how annoying they are,
a smile will make me forgive them.
Rather than a long winded excuse,
saying, "I'm sorry" with a smile
is most effective.

[Photo: My body was big back then too]

[Photo: Seen from behind, the "mother" has dignity]

When I look back on the photos we casually took,
there are a lot of interesting things I discover.
When I looked back at this photo,
for some reason, there's a Rick Dom behind me…
I stared at it for a while.

Somehow, these two are really charming, or should I say…
by the time the tour was over they'd become good men.

[Photo: I told the "mother" it was the best!!!]

We bid farewell to the "mother"

After that we went to do the grave-cleaning from hell.
Anyway it was terrible.
Because we were working under the blazing sun we were soaked with sweat.
I've gotta go clean the grave again soon~~.

I have to go pay my respects in Taiwan too,
That's right… today is the anniversary of his death.
I guess I'll go to Taiwan.

For some reason when I tried to write the rest of this blog
my browser crashed, so I'll leave it here for today.
Today, on the anniversary of my friend's death, I guess I'll drink some sake while looking at the stars.

That's what I feel like today.

It should be the death anniversary of 楊明學, a Taiwanese lyricist. He passed away from cancer at the age of 24 in January 2004. Apparently, they got to know each other from being guests at Leehom's concert.

CLEANING OUT A TOMB?! Is that a Japanese thing? Never heard about it before and it freaks me out a bit o_o

Thank you, as always! ♥

Just cleaning, not "out". (Though some island traditions are a bit different). Japanese people generally have family tombstones rather than everyone having their own hole in the ground, like in the west. It saves space and makes one place for all ancestors. Many Japanese are also cremated rather than being buried. Okinawan tombs are a bit larger than just a big tombstone. People clean tombs at least once a year.

A snippet from a book.

Wikipedia page for Japanese funerals (lots of info): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_funeral

A blog mentioning it: http://joruraljapan.blogspot.com/2008/08/grave-cleaning.html

And a video of a visit (read the vid description): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPzzWOjI0n0&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Hahaha, oh I get it now, thanks for explaining! I got mental images of people opening up tombs and cleaning them on the inside! XD

You're welcome ^_^

There is an island (maybe more, I saw it on NHK World) that puts their dead in a pit, lightly covers that, let's the body decay for a few years, then come back, clean the bones, and properly bury/entomb them. Ahhhh culture ^_^

O_O That sounds really unpleasant... But different cultures and traditions are what makes this world so interesting!!

Whose death it was, does anyone know? It's not Ken Ogata and it's not Kami, but that's as far as I go :/ Thanks ever so much for the transation and for translating today's tweets as well, I'm so grateful there's someone who's willing to do that for all of us who can't speak Japanese (yet).

Just a random thought, if Gackt ever had a kid (yes, I know, not going to happen, so I'm just hypothesising), s/he would twist Gacchan around their little finger just by means of a lovely big smile :P What a sight that would be :D

It was a death of his friend, Taiwanese singer Kefuka. He's speaking on this matter in a tv programme "Another sky" (2011.09.16)

What does he mean by grave cleaning? Kinda confused about this.

See my comment above, but they just go clean it. Get the dirt off, pull weeds (if it's more rural), leave fresh flowers/food/offerings. They don't just bury them and desert them like much of the west does.

Ahh I see.

Unfortunately the deserting thing is also done by Muslims. :( Altho there is an exception if the people have moved to a different country altogether.

Yeah, If you've moved away, it can be a lot more difficult. But there's something that the west doesn't like about death. Ahhh, culture.
